
Akihiko's work experience lies in the combined areas of technology, business, and law. He started his career as an engineer at Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC) in 1994, where he engaged in product development and research of Organic Photoconductor (OPC). In 2000, he moved to the Department of Intellectual Property and after passing the Patent Attorney Examination later that year, he worked on intellectual property prosecution mainly in the chemical and electrical device areas for several countries such as Japan, US, Canada, EPC, China, Taiwan, Korea, and India. He also worked on external affairs of intellectual property such as licensing, technical contracts, and patent disputes in Japan and overseas. After leaving MCC in 2006, he studied at Toin University Law School while working as a patent attorney for Banryoku International Patent Firm. In 2009, he passed the Bar Examination and joined the Legal Training and Research Institute. He joined Uchida & Samejima Law Firm in 2011.
He gained a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (specializing in Instrumentation Engineering) from Keio University Faculty of Science and Technology in 1992, a Master's degree in Engineering (specializing in Material Science) from Keio University Graduate School of Science and Technology in 1994. In 2009, he completed his studies as a Juris Doctor from Toin University Law School.
